THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NEWS BROADCASTING THROUGH RADIO AMONG Z GENERATIONS BETWEEN 16-23 YEARS OLD

The shift in mass media consumption occurred along with the
emergence of more sophisticated media. Among the media there
is one medium that has a big a big roles before other media
come, that is radio. The research was conducted to know the
effectiveness of radio in broadcasting the main information
news considering many other media more sophisticated and
more varied in spreading the news to the audience especially
adolescents belonging to the category of Z generation. This
research is considered as a quantitative descriptive one, where
researcher wants to reveal the condition or reality occurs
tailored to the issues raised by researcher. The result is 50 % of
the total 35 respondents of Z Generation considers that radio is
still effective used to get the news. Although this not as the
main mass media, 48.6% of respondents Z Generation considers
that radio is more often used for listening to entertainment,
such as music, compared to broadcast programs news. Z
Generation considers that in the present era of radio as a mass
media bearer news has begun in substitution with other mass
media such as online mass media for various reasons.
