READING STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION 3 P (EXTENDS REACH OF EYES, SPEED MOTION EYE, AND ZOOM REGRESSION) IN SMA NEGERI 1 NGORO - JOMBANG

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to find out :(1) the influence of the
expanded view of the eyes on speed and understanding reading
capability, (2) the influence ofthe acceleration of the eyeball
movement on speed and understanding reading capability, (3) the
influence ofthe reduction of eye regression patterns on speed and
understanding reading capability. The hypothesis of this research is
that 3—perpattern has significant influence on speed reading
capability. This study is qualitative approach using quasi experimental
with Times-Series Design with Control Group model. The data of
this study were on the students’ score of reading speed and the
score on reading comprehension. The research population were
students of grade X! SMAN 1 Ngoro Jombang. The decision of
students used purposive sampling techniques, the control group
were students of XI IPA1 dan Experiment group were students of XI
IPA 2.The instruments of this study were the instrument form and try
out of the instrument and analyzed using Ancova. The result showed
that the hypothesis were accepted. 3 P pattern influenced significantly
on the capability of reading speed and understanding the level of
significance is 0.05. This research recommended that the teacher
should implement 3 P in reading lesson plan, and the teacher should
give the 3 P pattern treatment in speed reading learning.
