THE STUDENTS’ DEGREE OF VISUALITY IN SOLVING MATHEMATICS PROBLEMS BASED ON THEIR LEARNING STYLE

The purposes of this study is to analyze the students’ degree of visual in
solving mathematics problems based on their learning style. This study
used descriptive and qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were
six students in the 8
th
grade at MTsN Kampak Trenggalek, on academic
year 2014-2015 with different learning style, two visual students, two
auditory students, and two kinesthetic students. Suwarsono’s (1982)
Mathematical Processi ng Instrument (MPI ) was admi nistered to
determine their degree of visual. Based on the finding, it could be
concluded that the students’ degree of visual with visual learning style are
visual, the students’ degree of visual with auditory learning style are
harmonic thinkers, and the students’ degree of visual with kinesthetic
are both visual and harmonic thinker.
